Backup CDs for Safety
CDs have a long history and are a great way to store pictures, data backups from your computers, music from converted cassettes, or interviews with friends and family from cassettes. But CDs are not indestructible. CDs wear out, CDs receive scratches, CDs break, and people lose CDs. Copy CDs to protect them from loss and damage. sss
There are two good strategies to back up CDs:
- CD Duplication: Make at least one extra copy for each of our CDs. Test the copies once and then put them in a safe place, like a safe. Remember that CDs are an older technology, and they require a CD player to play. Also, remember to keep an extra CD player in the safe with duplicated CDS to protect your investment.
- Even if you use CDs as your primary listening media and copy CDs to back them up, it also makes sense to create digital copies in mp3 or wav format. Copy backup files to hard drives, back them up to the cloud, and store them on USBs. Also, share digital files via the internet throughout the world. Lost or damaged CDs are created from the backup files. They can also be played on computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs.
