DVCam to DVD When You Digitize

Digitize DVCam before it degrades! Even the best digital video tape will deteriorate over time. DVCam to DVD ensures that digital video won’t deteriorate, but because it is such a great format, with superior quality and excellent cameras and players, losing its content is a tragedy. DVCam has been in use since 1996 for professional use, and was very popular until just a few years ago. Digital technology struggled to match the quality of its original form, but now dominates the market.

The only drawback to DVCam is that it is on videotape, which degrades over time even in excellent storage conditions. To preserve the video content, converting to digital is the only choice.

While the digital format is older, it is very good and it upgrades easily to today’s resolutions. The video format is not a problem, but the storage format is. Digital video on a tape cannot be simply “copied” from tape to file for playing. The first step is to import the file by capturing the output signal from a DVCam player/camera, and convert it into a digital file.

Edit these files to create a clean frame and cut out blank spots, and it is ready to export to a final format, often MP4. For professional usage and editing, mov is a good choice.

Benefits of Digital Files

In addition to preservation and ease of storing, digitized DVCam files are simple to edit, share via the internet, and play on many of today’s devices. Once in digital format, future standard changes become simple in the computer age.
